Massage descriptions
Swedish Massage Gentle, openhanded strokes are the hallmarks of Swedish or relaxation massage, which eases general tension from your muscles, calms the body and mind, increases circulation, and helps enhance muscle tone.
Deep Massage (Sports) Deep massage uses additional pressure to create changes in the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. Depending on your therapist's training, techniques such as trigger point therapy, myofascial release and clinical deep tissue massage might be integrated into your deep tissue massage to break up various types of muscle tension and help restore muscular balance to your body.
Hot Stone Massage A Swedish relaxation-style massage using smooth, heated volcanic rocks acts gently but is deeply therapeutic. The soothing heat of the stones increases the pliability of your muscles, allowing more effective release of tension and all-over relaxation. Deep Hot Stone Massage Combining the soothing heat of warmed stones with their potential use as deep-tissue massage tools, a Deep Hot Stone Massage can help release your most stubborn areas of tension, while still providing overall relaxation.
Reflexology Pressure and stretch is applied to the feet and hands to effect corresponding parts of your body, calming the nervous system and breaking up patterns of stress for whole-body relaxation.
Craniosacral Therapy Light touch monitors a subtle rhythm that can be felt in the spinal cord and head, gently helping you release tensions that prevent free movement along this system, easing stress and dysfunction throughout the body.
Raindrop Therapy Raindrop Therapy focuses on the spinal cord, back and feet using a medley of highly therapeutic oils, heat, and light massage to facilitate natural adjustment of the spine and muscles and support the nervous and immune systems.
Shiatsu This traditional Japanese therapy uses pressure point massage and stretching along various energy channels in the body. You are clothed comfortably and treated to a deep, continuous rhythmic sequence of pressure and movement to create many therapeutic changes to your body and overall energy.
Acupuncture One of the oldest, most commonly used medical procedures in the world, acupuncture involves the anatomical placement of hair-thin metallic needles along the body to facilitate healing. With minimal pain, short-term muscular issues as well as chronic, long-term concerns can be addressed in a series of sessions. Free consultations are available.
Reiki A Japanese technique for stress reduction & relaxation that promotes healing. It is administered by gently "laying on hands." It is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us & is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or stressed, and if it's high, we are more capable of being happy & healthy.
Maternity Also know as pre or post-natal massage, is a therapy specifically tailored for the expectant mother's needs. Typically this treatment is performed while the client is side-lying as the mother's body must be properly positioned and supported during the massage, using pillows and padding. This ensures comfort and safety for both the mother and baby.
Aromatherapy uses essential oils from plants to heal, alleviate pain and regulate mood. Essential oils are a volatile, highly concentrated plant extracts, derived from leaves, bark, roots, seeds resins and flowers. Aromatherapy massage uses these essential oils mixed with a carrier oil like almond, sesame, or grapeseed oil. The therapist use up to five oils in a mixture, and chooses the oils based on what you need. A relaxing aromatherapy massage, for instance, might have lavender or bergamot, while a massage for sore muscles might include peppermint and eucalyptus
Shirodhara (Jewel of India) This ancient Ayruvedic healing practice completes a massage tailored to balance your body/energy. Warm soothing oil flows on the brow to calm the nerves, release stored emotions, and purify the mind. .
